How to Survive (Almost) Anything: 14 Survival Skills

I was reading this article off National Geographic - on survival skills you can develop to help you survive any crisis you come across in adventures. But these are good skills to build up for "surviving" everyday life itself. Who knew national geographic could be a self-improvement magazine too? :)

    I particularly liked this:
    8. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
Learn a musical instrument or a foreign language. A recent study suggests that Chinese uses entirely different parts of the brain than Western languages.....

.....Survival is not about equipment and training alone. It’s about what’s in your mind and your emotional system. Living in a low-risk environment dulls our abilities. We must make a conscious effort to learn new things, to force ourselves out of our comfort zones.

True that. Now I am going to try to learn French. Westerners - Who's up for learning chinese??
